Hey Doug,
My mother is an ordained Presbyterian Minister. I respect her faith a lot. She had to work her ass off and spend a lot of money to get her masters of divinity, not to mention that religion is still the one place were sexism seems to still be rampant. I don't consider myself presbyterian though. But, I do believe in and love Jesus. That's really the only thing that I feel makes me Christian and all that's necessary in my eyes for someone to distinguish themselves in that way. I practice a pretty disorganized version of Christianity and I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't think of me as a Christian, but I try not to take issue with that.
I didn't make it to the playa this year either. :(:(:(:(

"full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit and full of faith his belief that Jesus is the Messiah, through Whom we obtain eternal salvation"
Acts 11: (amplified)
23When he arrived and saw what grace (favor) God was bestowing upon them, he was full of joy; and he continuously exhorted (warned, urged, and encouraged) them all to cleave unto and remain faithful to and devoted to the Lord with [resolute and steady] purpose of heart.
24For he was a good man good in himself and also at once for the good and the advantage of other people], full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit and full of faith (of his [f]belief that Jesus is the Messiah, through Whom we obtain eternal salvation). And a large company was added to the Lord.
25[Barnabas] went on to Tarsus to hunt for Saul.
26And when he had found him, he brought him back to Antioch. For a whole year they assembled together with and were guests of the church and instructed a large number of people; and in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians. -

When I use the word christian, I have in mind a disciple or student who is moved by the Holy spirit to do what Jesus asks in the scriptures. That is follow him and preach the gospel to every creature healing as you go.
I dont like using the word Christian in the generic sense as christian nation or christian principles because they just dont seem like concepts Jesus teaches.
But who am I to judge? I stand corrected and say, Thank you Jesus.
